In the new development, TRUMPF has particularly improved the reliability, productivity, and user-friendliness of the machine. "Especially in the energy and electronics industry, which currently belongs to the fastest-growing sectors, we see an increasing demand for stamped sheet metal parts. With the new TruPunch 5000, we support our customers in economically and automatically producing high quantities," says Michael Steimle, product manager at TRUMPF.

More Transparency for Higher Productivity

The new machine control, the integrated camera system "Vision Equipment Pro," and a second monitor ensure more transparency in production. The new machine control transmits the process and status data of the machine to TRUMPF's digital service "Smart View." Machine operators can view the information remotely on a dashboard and take early action against potential downtimes. Additionally, up to ten integrated cameras capture the machine's working area.

These recordings can be accessed by manufacturing employees anytime and anywhere, for example, at the setup station. Additionally, information about production can be displayed on a second screen, such as camera images of the machines or data from TRUMPF software Oseon. Future machine updates can also be implemented without a service technician on-site. TRUMPF plans to offer the service "Remote Operation Support" for the TruPunch 5000 as well, allowing TRUMPF to troubleshoot the machine remotely at the user's site. "This way, our customers can produce overnight without needing personnel on-site," says Steimle.

Machine Control as a Basis for AI-Supported Automation

With the new machine control, TRUMPF lays the foundation for highly flexible and future-proof automation with the TruPunch 5000. For the first time at EuroBLECH, the company presents an AI-supported solution to automatically sort small parts. The intelligent cameras recognize the position of the small parts, allowing a robot to pick them up and sort them without programming effort. This reduces non-productive times and increases manufacturing productivity.

In the new TruPunch 5000, TRUMPF has significantly simplified the operability. An improved safety concept shortens the operator's walking distances and reduces non-productive times. TRUMPF has also made tool setup more user-friendly. The new tool changer "ToolMaster Linear" features an additional display directly at the setup station. Operators can see all necessary tool information there and can set up faster and more safely.

Proven Technology for Diverse Manufacturing Tasks

TRUMPF maintains the proven performance data of the predecessor machine with the new TruPunch 5000. With 22 tons of punching power, the machine processes sheets up to a thickness of eight millimeters at up to 1,600 strokes per minute. In addition to punching, it also produces demanding deformations such as embossing or cutouts. The open machine frame allows for high flexibility with different component sizes and ensures good accessibility of the machine – even in highly automated systems. Furthermore, the active die of the TruPunch 5000 enables high-quality, scratch-free surfaces, larger forming heights, and greater process reliability in demanding punching and forming applications. The TruPunch 5000 is suitable for both small series manufacturers and large-scale producers. Typical applications range from control cabinet construction to components for data centers to delicate cladding and functional parts.

TruPunch 5000 as Part of a Directly Linked Manufacturing System

At EuroBLECH, TRUMPF showcases the TruPunch 5000 as part of a directly linked manufacturing system. In this setup, the automation "SheetMaster" places the stamped parts onto a buffer conveyor belt. This automatically transports them to the bending cell TruBend Center 7030, where a manipulator picks them up and bends them. Unlike traditional line manufacturing, the material flow in the TRUMPF solution remains flexible. Users can also return the components to storage or hand them over to a mobile robot for further transport. This makes the system suitable for the production of a wide variety of components and helps sheet metal manufacturers secure their future. Thanks to the flexibility in material flow, the TruPunch 5000 and the TruBend Center 7030 can each achieve their full productivity even at different processing speeds. If one machine is busier than the other, an integrated buffer storage balances the material flow while leftover sheets can be used for other processes in parallel. Thus, the solution combines the advantages of direct linking with high flexibility and consistently high utilization of both machines. "In our directly linked system, the user can individually determine the optimal material flow for each part and fully exploit the productivity of the machines. This flexibility is currently unique in the sheet metal manufacturing market," says product manager Sebastian Götz.
