Only two months after the initial contact by the UPBracing Team from the University of Paderborn, the roll cage entered final production at Herber GmbH. The specialized company from Reiskirchen has a modern machine park and invested a lot of work into material procurement and project-specific optimization of the pipe bending machine to manufacture this safety-relevant chassis part. The roll cage stabilizes the passenger cell of the E-Bolide in the event of a rollover, as the race car competes in international Formula Student competitions.
Innovative Pipe Bending Geometry for E-Race Cars

The goal of the competition is to develop a functional race car annually. To support the UPBracing Team, Herber GmbH has worked intensively with team members and various external partners. For the production of the roll cage, Herber took over the procurement of certified components and manufactured special tools. The processes of the bending machine were optimized for the project's specifics. The design focused on meeting high specifications and safety requirements.
Support for the Motorsport of the Future
As a production partner and sponsor of the new model PX425E, Herber GmbH was present on May 9, 2025, at the presentation of the new Formula race car in the Audimax of the University of Paderborn. The fully electronic race car combines the bundled expertise from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, business, and media sciences. The project provides an exciting insight into innovation and science in sustainable and resource-saving motorsport of the future.
Maximum Flexibility in Pipe Bending
Due to its specification for highly complex geometries in pipe bending technology, Herber GmbH was the preferred specialist company for the UPBracing Team. Herber Hydraulics offers maximum flexibility in production through individual planning, modern equipment, and deep technical know-how. "We can quickly adapt to the complexity of extraordinary projects. Each pipe is custom-made by our hydraulic specialists. In the design phase, we work with a 3D CAD system to simulate the pipe bends. We exclusively use the highest quality materials," emphasizes Managing Director Simon Herber the competencies of the family business. With over 700 m² of space, Herber GmbH has the spatial capacities to manufacture pipelines using the latest methods and to offer individual, special, and series production according to the highest national and international standards and with all common approvals.
