Transformation, networking, outlook – from November 3rd to 5th, Berlin will be the meeting point for European tool and mold making: At the ISTMA meeting of the European branch of the World Toolmakers Association, industry representatives from industry, research, and associations will come together.

The goal is to set impulses, promote exchange, and develop new perspectives for the industry. Not only national professional associations are invited, but explicitly also the companies in the industry – whether organized in an association or not. The organization and local coordination is handled by the Association of German Tool and Mould Makers (VDWF), which is itself an active ISTMA member and takes on the host role for the industry meeting in the capital.

Focus on transformation

The focus of the meeting is on the topic of transformation. 'The requirements for tool and mold making are changing rapidly,' says Stephan Berz, President of ISTMA Europe and brand ambassador of the VDWF. 'Right now, it is essential that we network at the European level, develop strategies together, and clarify: A tool is not a commodity, but a high-tech production tool, a unique item. If we as an industry come together, perceive change as an opportunity, and communicate our value confidently, we can not only master difficult phases – but emerge strengthened from them.'

The venue for the three-day event is the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology IPK in Berlin – a leading research institute for manufacturing and digitalization technologies. It combines scientific work with industrial application proximity and exemplifies the interplay of research, innovation, and practice.

The first day of the event will kick off on Monday with a presentation of the individual European toolmaker associations, followed by a tour of the Fraunhofer IPK. On Tuesday, expert lectures and dialogue formats will be the focus, addressing specific transformation processes within the industry – including contributions from experts in the automotive industry. As part of the subsequent networking program, participants can expect a boat tour on the Spree, including a visit to the Reichstag building, before the day concludes in an informal atmosphere with a joint dinner.

Wednesday will then allow insights behind the scenes of the capital under the motto 'Berlin Backstage' – a special conclusion that rounds off the ISTMA-Europe meeting 2025 and provides the opportunity to deepen personal exchanges.

Impulses for the future of European tool and mold making

The ISTMA-Europe meeting 2025 is intended as a platform for the entire European 'toolmaker ecosystem' – across association boundaries. It is about know-how, perspectives, and especially personal dialogue. 'I look forward to every participant,' says Stephan Berz. Because what drives the industry forward are indeed conversations at eye level – between decision-makers, technicians, and strategists who share responsibility together, explains the ISTMA-Europe president with anticipation.

The Registration for the event is now possible via the VDWF website.

The official ISTMA meeting is free of charge. The additional networking program, which begins on Tuesday afternoon, is offered for a contribution of 295.00 euros.
