Even roughness can be grasped

Uneven surfaces complicate vacuum handling. The FSGA-78 CF bellows suction gripper from Schmalz reliably adapts to structured materials and ensures a secure grip – inspired by bionics. The soft sealing lip allows even challenging workpieces like sawn wood to be gripped securely and leak-free.

Saw-rough wood poses a significant challenge for vacuum suction grippers: the uneven surface allows air to flow into the system. This creates leaks that can reduce grip and disrupt processes. Schmalz has equipped the bellows suction gripper FSGA-78 CF with new sealing technology for such applications. The extremely soft sealing lip made of silicone adapts to the structure of the workpiece during gripping. Despite gaps and unevenness, it seals reliably.

Structured workpieces can now be gripped and moved securely. Despite the soft and flexible sealing lip, the suction gripper also features high stability. For maintenance personnel, this means: fewer gripper changes, reduced troubleshooting for leaks, and better availability of the system.

The suction gripper uses the proven suction geometry from Schmalz. Users can quickly mount it and easily replace it in existing systems. The sealing is bionic, inspired by nature, and is based on the so-called Clingfish effect. The Northern Clingfish uses this adhesion principle to hold onto wet, rough surfaces with its belly suction cup.
