The S6 was specifically developed for technicians, manufacturing teams, and maintenance staff who need reliable 3D prints for manufacturing, prototyping, and on-demand repair. The device, which aims to enable efficient scaling of production for users in all industries, impresses primarily with its high performance and cost-effectiveness.
Even though innovation remains a priority throughout the UltiMaker ecosystem, a significant focus is on increasing productivity. Equipped with the new UltiMaker Cheetah Motion Planner, the UltiMaker S6 achieves print speeds of up to 500 mm/s and an acceleration of 50,000 mm/s². Each movement is intelligently optimized, resulting in print times that are four times shorter compared to the previous model. The proven dual-extrusion features of UltiMaker ensure even higher efficiency and enable seamless printing with different materials. As both print heads are supplied by a single material station, users can further maximize their system's uptime. The S6 features two print plates: a flexible plate for a wide range of applications and a glass plate that is particularly suitable for medical applications and food packaging, where the highest hygiene standards must be met.

Designed for maximum versatility, the device is backward compatible with the UltiMaker S5. This makes it a seamless evolution of one of the brand's most proven and popular platforms, of which over 40,000 units have been sold worldwide. The material stations, air managers, print cores, and materials are interchangeable throughout the S-series. In larger manufacturing processes, previously sliced parts can be reused, allowing production to continue without the need to recreate files. The familiar user interface and the entire ecosystem are designed for minimal onboarding time and intuitive operability, enabling teams to start working as quickly as possible. The development of the UltiMaker S6 consistently prioritized high-quality, reliable results. It is the first UltiMaker printer to come with an extended warranty of 24 months – a warranty period that is twice as long as usual – thus providing maximum investment security.
“We are excited about the new UltiMaker S6. It features the same build quality and reliability that we have come to expect over the last five years with our S5 printer,” says Erik Schwartz, owner/driver of Schwartz Off Road Motorsports, USA. “Thanks to the higher print speeds of the S6, we can now work even faster and more flexibly. Downtime has very negative effects on our time-critical design process. Our team simply cannot afford to wait days for a print or to perform complex repairs. Now we can quickly make another optimization to the design before a race weekend if needed.”
Sophie Grebert, owner of the French company DP3D, says: “The S6 meets all our requirements in terms of speed and reliability and gives us the assurance that we can rely on a well-integrated, proven ecosystem. Together with the UltiMaker S8, which we recently acquired, it has become a valuable and efficient part of our daily operations.”
The S6 integrates seamlessly into the software, material, and hardware ecosystem of UltiMaker, which is based on UltiMaker Cura and UltiMaker Digital Factory. With the Cura Cloud function available through Digital Factory, users can manage, slice, and print jobs from anywhere, optimizing their workflows across teams and zones. The S6 supports over 300 printing materials, allowing users to reliably execute nearly any project.
“With the S6, we can offer our users more – more speed, more versatility, and more freedom – without them having to start from scratch,” says Marc Uyttenboogaard, product manager at UltiMaker. “We have retained all the features that users particularly appreciate about the S5 and further improved the device based on that. Thanks to the model's backward compatibility, our customers' investments are protected in the long term.”
The S6, manufactured at UltiMaker's production facilities in the Netherlands, is further proof of the company's commitment to quality, innovation, and a robust 3D printing ecosystem. UltiMaker's facilities have been certified by the BSI Group according to ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 14001 for environmental management, underscoring the company's high performance and sustainability standards. These certifications align with the stringent requirements of the high-performance industries served by UltiMaker, such as defense, aerospace, and automotive.
“With this market introduction, we want to provide our customers with real added value, especially as companies today must achieve more with fewer resources,” says Andy Middleton, SVP EMEA at UltiMaker. “UltiMaker reaffirms its mission with the S6 to make professional 3D printing more accessible, adaptable, and future-proof than ever before.”
