The focus of the autumn innovations is on processing different container heights, automated handling of cartons and individual items, AI-based planning and system optimization, as well as reliable maintenance. This allows companies to automate more processes within a system and support ongoing operations with less manual effort.
"Autonomy should not be a leap into the unknown for companies," says Parth Joshi, Chief Product Officer & President at AutoStore. "Our goal is to gradually eliminate practical hurdles. This includes making processes more predictable, reducing manual tasks, and simplifying the operation of automated systems. The feedback from our customers reinforces our commitment to mapping more processes and use cases on the AutoStore platform: from interim storage to carton handling to automated picking of individual items. These practical advancements enable more autonomy and bring us closer to the goal of lights-out fulfillment."
More goods flows in one system

Processing different item sizes has become standard. At the same time, companies must manage growing assortments in as little additional space as possible and without overcapacity or additional infrastructure. The new features expand the application possibilities of AutoStore systems and enable more interconnected processes to be automated:
-

FlexBinsPort creates more flexibility in storage ©AutoStore FlexBinsPort: Enables the processing of different container heights at a workstation. All standard heights of AutoStore containers can be used at one workstation. This creates more flexibility in storage and can improve space utilization by 10 to 15 percent. The introduction is planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
-

Robot-assisted individual item picking with Pio Pal ©AutoStore AutoCase: Expands automated carton handling and enables companies to process cartons and individual items within a system. The solution supports cartons up to a size of 600 × 400 mm. In the future, multiple AutoCase stations can work in parallel on the same order group, for downstream processes such as palletizing and packaging. The expansion will be available from the first quarter of 2027.
-

VersaAI ©AutoStore Pio Pal: Makes robot-assisted individual item picking accessible to smaller companies through a Robotics-as-a-Service model. The solution enables pre-picking of orders and supports a throughput of up to 540 order lines per hour during subsequent packaging.
- VersaAI: Expands robot-assisted individual item picking with features such as automatic goods feeding, barcode capture directly at the workstation, and robot-assisted inventory checks. The solution supports various AutoStore configurations and can be used in both new and existing systems.
AI-based planning and system design

With the new solutions, AutoStore also brings enhanced AI support to the planning and design of systems to support decisions throughout the entire lifecycle. The features are based on the software and AI foundation of CubeVerse and AutoStore Intelligence and support customers from investment planning to system design to ongoing optimization:
- CubeExplore: A GenAI-supported tool for ROI modeling that uses operational metrics and comparable project data to better evaluate investment scenarios and business cases.
- CubeStudio: The AI-supported design assistant uses AutoStore Intelligence and supports AI-based planning and design of AutoStore systems and the comparison of different scenarios and configurations.

Fewer manual tasks in ongoing operations
More autonomy requires that automated systems operate reliably and with fewer ongoing tasks. The new features reduce this effort and support more reliable operations:
- CubeFleet: Consolidates maintenance tips, action recommendations, and the creation of work orders in a central overview for individual locations or entire networks. This can reduce unplanned downtime by an estimated 35 to 45 percent.
- CubeAnalytics: AutoStore's analytics platform is expanded with cross-site views and AI-based summaries. This allows teams to quickly identify where action is needed.
With this year's autumn portfolio, AutoStore takes another step from automation to autonomy and thus towards the future vision of lights-out fulfillment.
