A special day at Schmalz: With immediate effect, Dr. Johannes Schmalz will become the third member of the management. This secures the vacuum specialist from Glatten in the Northern Black Forest's long-term future as a family-run business in its fourth generation.
I am very excited about my new role, says Dr. Johannes Schmalz, who will now serve as managing partner. I have known the company since childhood and am full of anticipation and confidence to actively shape the future of the company myself. The 39-year-old will form a three-person management team with his father Dr. Kurt Schmalz and Andreas Beutel.
Dr. Johannes Schmalz most recently worked as an internationally responsible executive in the field of digitalization at a large global family-owned electronics company. In addition, he has extensive expertise in IT, robotics, and strategy. He is also the founder and partner of a successful technology start-up. I have gone through several stages and gained valuable experiences in various positions: in research, as a founder, in a large company, says the new managing partner. Now is a good time to bring these experiences to Schmalz.
Dr. Johannes Schmalz will take on professional responsibility for the areas of IT and digitalization, new business, and corporate strategy - always with the goal of increasing the benefit for the customer. The values of the company, which have shaped the Schmalz culture for decades, will be upheld by the 39-year-old: Despite all the economic and technological interests, the human being must always be at the center.
For Dr. Kurt Schmalz, who himself joined the company 45 years ago, the entry of his son has special significance: I have invested a lot of passion into the company throughout my professional life and successfully built it together with my brother Wolfgang, says Dr. Kurt Schmalz. This year I will turn 70. I am particularly pleased that with Johannes' entry, the long-term stability of Schmalz as a family business is permanently secured.
To kick off, Dr. Johannes Schmalz went on a welcoming tour of the company premises. There, the new management member went through the various departments and was warmly welcomed by the total of 1,800 employees of the Schmalz Group - in person at the Glatten location and via video by employees from worldwide locations. As a small welcome gift, the PhD engineer brought chocolates with the Schmalz logo for all employees to ensure sufficient chocolate supply, as Dr. Johannes Schmalz remarked with a wink.
