Dr. Heinrich Schneider Messtechnik GmbH, a leading company for complex and highly precise multisensor shaft measurement technology, presents the newly developed 'Jumbos' in the 3D multisensor shaft measuring machine series WMM at CONTROL in Stuttgart (Hall 5 Stand 5501). 'They represent an upward expansion compared to our successful models WMM 300 to WMM 1000. Depending on the model, we cover maximum measurement lengths of up to 2200 mm and a maximum measuring circle diameter of 400 mm with standard solutions,' explains Uwe J. Keller, Head of Marketing at Schneider Messtechnik. 'Moreover, thanks to the modular principle of the WMM series, affordable, custom solutions can be built up to a maximum measurement length of 3000 mm and a measuring circle diameter of 600 mm. It pays off - guaranteed!'

The centerpiece of the new series is the new multisensor measurement head with the tactile scanning probe SP25 and the chromatic confocal white light sensor, each equipped with its own separate delivery axis. The scanning probe also enables reproducible shape and roughness measurements, even on non-cylindrical contours. Additionally, there is an automatic temperature sensor for the workpiece, which takes into account both the machine and the workpiece during compensation. Newly developed are the high-performance LED surface light and the coaxial LED surface light. This enables precise surface measurements of holes, grooves, and many other contours and elements that cannot be measured in transmitted light.
The machines are manufactured in a monoblock construction. The integrated bionic structures for optimizing stiffness while simultaneously reducing weight ensure consistently precise and reproducible measurements.
Other highlights of the WMM 1500 / 2200 include ...
-

The scanning probe allows for standard-compliant roughness measurement. Image: Schneider ... the measurement of gears with integrated HAWK software
- ... the motorized counter holder with camera-guided positioning of the counterpoint on the workpiece
- ... the fail-safe of the shaft at the counterpoint during clamping and releasing the shaft
- ... the pressure monitoring of the counterpoint with adjustable contact pressure - also for thin-walled hollow shafts
- ... the flashed image capture during axis movement
- ... the probe garage with up to six storage options for automatic probe change; optionally, it can also be heated for storing different modules and the roughness sensor.
An important role is also played by the measurement and evaluation software SAPHIR in its current version v7 with its intuitive user interface, which focuses the user on the essentials of shaft programming. Thanks to its extensive measurement functions, SAPHIR ensures a quick and reliable measurement result for every operator without any problems. 'Additionally, in various application cases, our shaft measuring machines also allow for automated or manual loading with different loading aids. Furthermore, they have a standard-compliant safety concept through the latest light barrier technology,' adds Uwe J. Keller. 'The numerous advantages of the new WMM 'Jumbos' are also recognized by our customers, which is why we have already delivered a WMM 1500 and a WMM 2200 to pilot customers and successfully put them into operation before the official premiere. With the shaft measuring machines from Schneider Messtechnik, they undoubtedly have their manufacturing process under control.'
