For permanently clear visibility

With its visibility systems, HEMA enables operators to safely monitor the machining process of a machine tool.

As a specialist in machine and apparatus protection, the company manufactures machine safety windows for this purpose. With its retrofit service, it also takes care of the regular replacement of windows, which occurs at specified maintenance intervals.

The hazards for the operating personnel of machine tools are enormous: chips reach high speeds, tensioned workpieces can come loose or break and fly through the workspace with great force. Machine safety windows provide a clear and protected view of the ongoing manufacturing process, for example for machine setup or visual inspection. This is made possible by a composite material, as HEMA manufactures.

High safety through composite material

Sight glasses in this area can be easily damaged. Simple polycarbonate windows quickly become brittle due to their continuous contact with cooling lubricants. HEMA constructs its machine safety windows as a composite of polycarbonate and safety glass, whose protective properties are optimally combined.

The safety glass is resistant to cooling lubricants and chips, keeping them away from the inside of the polycarbonate. The polycarbonate, in turn, is used on the operator side. Due to its material structure, it has a high retention capacity. In the event of any damage to the window, the risk of injury is significantly lower than with simple safety windows. The composite proves to be very stable in tests.

Safety windows are designed according to protection classes

Safety windows are individually configured, manufactured, and completely sealed by HEMA in the dimensions and according to the applicable machinery directive for each machine tool. Depending on customer requirements, the machine safety windows can also be produced with frames in various contours or as 'curved' safety windows with a radius. The pre-integration of a SPINVISTA rotating window is also possible.
According to the required protection class, HEMA designs and combines the material thicknesses of safety glass and polycarbonate. This ensures protection against potential hazards from CNC machines or turning and milling centers, for example due to their production speeds or the size of the workpieces to be processed.

Comprehensive retrofit service

With an extensive window service, HEMA ensures that the clear visibility and, above all, the retention capacity of the machine safety windows are permanently maintained. For this purpose, the installed machine safety windows are checked according to the current DGUV recommendations for window replacement and are documented in detail with age, condition, and recommendation for the replacement period. Existing windows are removed, measured, and the new safety windows are manufactured and installed according to currently applicable guidelines. The replacement is planned in such a way that the machine experiences as short a downtime as possible.
