  • "Europe must not be blackmailed, not even by the United States. Greenland is part of Europe and must remain so. If the EU gives in here, it will only encourage the American president to make the next outrageous demand and threaten with further tariffs."
  • "Europe must confidently, unitedly, and resolutely oppose this US expansionist policy. This requires deeper integration - economically and particularly in terms of security policy."
  • "The EU Commission should examine whether the instrument against trade coercion (Anti Coercion Instrument) can be used. This instrument allows the EU to take countermeasures when economic pressure is exerted to force political decisions."
  • "The European Parliament cannot possibly decide on tariff reductions for the USA next week as long as Washington pressures the European Union with new punitive tariffs."
  • "We particularly urge the Republican representatives in both houses of Congress to use their power to stop the president in his expansionist endeavors. The economic price that the USA will also pay for the consequences in transatlantic trade is high and will become even greater if the punitive tariff policy does not stop."
  • "The European machinery and plant engineering sector is already disproportionately affected by US punitive tariffs, as a large number of products are subject to special tariffs of 50 percent on steel and aluminum. Additionally, there are high costs for bureaucracy that prevent many businesses. More than every second exported machine could be affected by this."
