The new KR IONTEC ultra completes KUKA's portfolio in the payload range between 80 and 120 kg. With reach distances of 2,300 to 2,700 mm, the compact and powerful robot offers maximum efficiency and flexibility in the modern manufacturing environment – for example, in handling or in spot welding with lightweight welding torches.
Due to its compact design, the KR IONTEC ultra can easily adapt to tight working spaces: Customers can realize narrow automation cells by using the slim robot. The saved space consequently leads to lower costs. In addition to the small footprint, the robot has very good performance, which contributes to minimizing cycle times.
Economical in space requirements and maintenance
The KR IONTEC ultra seamlessly integrates into the KR IONTEC family, which impresses with low maintenance requirements: An oil change is only necessary every 20,000 operating hours, and the central hand concept operates without belts. The robot only requires a few spare parts anyway.
The KR IONTEC ultra showcases its strengths in handling – especially in the battery sector – and in spot welding with lightweight welding torches. With a payload of up to 120 kg, the robot can also move heavy battery cells and modules for use in electromobility. Furthermore, the slim robot fits perfectly into compact welding cells – a feature that is highly sought after by suppliers in the automotive industry.
The ideal robot for cost-conscious automation beginners
In the KUKA portfolio, the KR IONTEC ultra leverages its advantages between the product families of KR IONTEC and KR QUANTEC. With a smaller footprint than the KR QUANTEC while maintaining high performance, it serves as a cost-effective option for entering automation. 'The KR IONTEC ultra can be quickly and intuitively integrated into existing production environments,' says Michael Laub, Platform Product Manager Medium Payload and Palletizing Robots at KUKA. Since the robot can be integrated with the KUKA.PLC mxAutomation interface, it can be programmed and operated by the user in the familiar control environment. Thus, the compact, powerful, and cost-efficient robot can quickly contribute to various handling applications and in spot welding with lightweight welding torches within production. The KR IONTEC ultra with a payload of 120 kg and a reach of 2,700 mm is now available for order, with three additional model variants to follow in the summer of this year.
