The expansion of the modular hydraulic platform H4U (Hydraulics for You) combines the H4U.apps software components with powerful hardware and the intuitive user interface H4U.ui. This allows for the easy design, quick commissioning, and one-click optimization of high-performance pump control systems. With the H4U.cube pQ, Bosch Rexroth presents the first version of the solution for controlling pressure and flow rate at EUROBLECH 2026. Further variants are in preparation.

The megatrends of automation, digitalization, and climate protection require more productivity, availability, and energy efficiency from hydraulics.
At the same time, the decline in hydraulic expertise in many companies calls for simpler integration and operation.

Bosch Rexroth has specifically tailored the modular hydraulic platform H4U to these challenges. With the new expansion H4U.cube, the company combines the already available H4U.apps with powerful hardware and the intuitive user interface H4U.ui.

The H4U.cube pQ controls the pressure and flow rate of either one or two variable displacement pumps, such as the types A3V2Q, A10VSO, or A4VSO. The continuous adjustment of the swivel angle and optionally the speed ensures high control quality, energy efficiency, and operational transparency. Investment costs are also reduced, as one control unit is sufficient for two pumps. In double pump systems, the hardware effort for control is also reduced.

Through standardized fieldbus interfaces, such as PROFINET RT, the modular pump control integrates directly and independently of the manufacturer into the respective machine control. Automation can thus be implemented in its usual automation software – without technical hurdles and system breaks.

The integration of hydraulics is simplified by the menu-driven user interface H4U.ui. The commissioning assistant allows for a quick start by suggesting suitable controller parameters, among other things. Optimization is easily achieved through four plus/minus fields or via autotuning, which determines the optimal setting for precise and stable control. For example, in presses, pressure overshoots that can occur upon impact of the press ram can be automatically corrected, allowing the pressure to quickly reach the setpoint.

Diagnostic functions and integrated maintenance reminders ensure smooth operation with minimized downtime. Software updates ensure high future viability and availability over the lifecycle.

"In the complete solution H4U.cube, we bundle our extensive expertise from hardware and software competence to application and control know-how, as well as user experience and connectivity," says Rainer Henning, Senior Product Manager Software and H4U.app at Bosch Rexroth. "This allows decentralized control functions to be designed and integrated as easily, quickly, and intuitively as never before – independent of the machine control and with consistently high performance."
