At the last Formnext, the new award concept and the winners of the six categories received strong international attention. In 2025, Formnext will continue this success story and will again honor emerging young companies, forward-thinking sustainable business models, and progressive technologies with the Formnext Awards in six different categories. A partially newly appointed jury will also bring fresh impulses. Applications can be submitted starting now.

This year, outstanding developments and special achievements from the world of additive manufacturing will be honored in the following categories:

  • AMbassador Award: outstanding individuals or organizations that have a unique impact on the industry and users through innovative training and educational approaches or their personal advocacy. Jury members: Dr. Irene Skibinski (VDMA Additive Manufacturing), Haden Quinlan (MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Ralf Anderhofstadt (Daimler Truck AG | Daimler Buses GmbH), Lisa D. Block (Hybrid Manufacturing Technologies & Women in 3D Printing)
  • Design Award: exceptional AM design and AM products (aesthetic and functional aspects). Jury members: Anouk Wipprecht (FashionTech Designer & Engineer)

  • (R)Evolution Award: Products, technologies, or services that are groundbreaking and provide special added value for the user. Jury members: Melissa Orme (Boeing), Dr.-Ing. Maximilian Binder (BMW Group), Prof. Jennifer Johns (University of Bristol Business School)
  • Rookie Award: young individuals who have not yet established a company or have founded one less than a year ago, with promising business ideas.
  • Start-up Award: young, inspiring companies with viable business models. Jury members for the Rookie and Start-up Award: Arno Held (AM Ventures), Alex Kingsbury (nLight), Prof. Dr. Peter Mayr (TU Munich), Dr.-Ing. Sascha Schwarz (TUM Venture Labs), Heather Swift Hunt (Kickstarter).
  • Sustainability Award: AM applications and products that are assessed and evaluated based on their product life cycle. Jury members: Dr.-Ing. Kristian Arntz (FH Aachen), Dr. Mohsen Seifi (ASTM International), Sherri Monroe (Additive Manufacturer Green Trade Association, AMGTA)

"For continuous progress, the AM industry requires new and forward-looking ideas and innovation drivers. Therefore, we want to not only provide a platform for outstanding individuals, companies, and organizations but also further connect them and introduce them to potential customers, partners, and investors," explains Christoph Stüker, Vice President Formnext at the organizer Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH.

The submissions in each category will be judged by a high-profile jury, which has been partially reappointed this year, bringing fresh perspectives and a diverse range of expertise. The winners will be presented during the award ceremony at Formnext on Thursday evening, January 1, 2000. In addition to the elegantly designed Formnext Award trophy, the winners will receive a cash prize or material prizes such as corporate coaching.

"With the success of the launch of the Formnext Awards last year, it has been confirmed what significant advantages the concept brings for the participants and the winners of the individual award categories," emphasizes Petra Haarburger, President of the organizer Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH. "They gain access to all relevant international experts in one place, benefit from targeted networking and space for in-depth conversations and strategic partnerships – while simultaneously gaining visibility among the key decision-makers in the industry and beyond. The award stage of Formnext combines competence, relevance, and reach."

As in the previous year, the submissions and exhibits of the finalists will be showcased at Formnext 2025 as part of a special exhibition. During the public voting, visitors to Formnext will have the opportunity to cast their vote for one of the finalists in each of the six categories, either on-site or online, thus helping to determine the final outcome.
